AI Fundamentals
AI curriculum and teacher professional development
A developing curriculum for grades 9–12, connecting the foundations of computing to machine learning and the responsible use of AI.

Scope
Curriculum goals
The planned curriculum introduces computing systems, data, and machine learning. It includes activities for testing models and considering when AI systems should be used.
Intended outcomes include explaining system behavior, training or modifying a model, evaluating its limitations, and supporting a decision with evidence.
The planned curriculum
Curriculum outline
Each module is designed around five 60-minute class periods. Together, they form a 15-hour introduction.
- 01
From Silicon to Data
Connect the physical foundations of computing with the ways systems represent, move, and work with data.
- 02
Learning from Data
Explore machine learning by training or modifying a model, testing its behavior, and examining its limitations.
- 03
AI in the World
Consider responsible systems and decisions: weigh technical evidence alongside human consequences when deciding how AI should be used.
Working with educators
Teacher development
The project includes teacher professional learning, classroom feedback, and curriculum revision. These activities are being planned alongside the teaching materials.
Current status
A curriculum map has been drafted, and the educator guide is a working draft. Student activities, teacher learning activities, and classroom pilots still need development. A complete classroom resource set is not yet available.
