Purpose
Planning for a hosted learning environment
School IT restrictions, uneven teacher preparation, fragmented tools, and limited technical capacity can make hands-on computing difficult to support.
Forge explores a persistent, browser-based Workbench where students could work with code, data, files, models, and command-line tools—and return to their work over time.
Prototype work
Areas under examination
- 01
Programming and data
Programming languages, terminals, files, and data as part of authentic learning activities.
- 02
Coursework and feedback
Ways to bring instruction, student work, collaboration, and feedback into a coherent experience.
- 03
Browser access
How hosted computing could reduce dependence on specialized local infrastructure.
Planning work
Requirements and feasibility
The current work combines prototype development with requirements, wireframes, and hosting feasibility. Stakeholder feedback and further testing will inform the development roadmap.
Current status
Forge is a technical and interaction prototype, not a production platform or a classroom deployment. The Planning award focuses on requirements, wireframe validation, feasibility, stakeholder feedback, and a development roadmap.
Public Workbench access is not currently available.
